Extreme Collaborations in Medicine + Design

Sunday October 12th: 1:00PM - 4:00PM
Ticket Price: Free; registration required.

Radical innovation depends upon entirely new ways of perceiving and interpreting the world around us, and therefore relies upon collaboration with a diverse set of experts collaborating widely across disciplines. No where is this more evident than in medicine, where it concerns the development of tangible products, such as drugs, devices and software applications, but also intangibles, including clinical practice, treatment strategies and protocols.

Surprisingly, despite the obvious centrality of design in medicine, formal teaching of design thinking and practice to medical students is notably absent. To redress this, we have recently launched MEDstudio@JEFF at The Sidney Kimmel Medical College.

The purpose of this event is to bring together experts who represent a new wave of extreme collaborators in medicine and design; including:

Peter Lloyd Jones, PhD | Director + Founder, MEDstudio@JEFF

Bon Ku, MD, MPP | Associate Director, MEDstudio@JEFF

Jenny E. Sabin, MArch | Principal, Jenny Sabin Studio LLC

Erica Swesey Savig, MArch | doctoral student in cancer biology, Stanford University

Helene Furjan, BArch Hons, MA, PhD | Vice President + COO at Evolve Foundation, Inc.

Blake Bradford, MA | Bernard C. Watson Director of Education, The Barnes Foundation

Raymond Richard Neutra, MD, MPH | secretary, Friends of Neutra VDL Research House

A question and answer session with the audience will be followed by a reception with food and beverages.
