Pearl Street Cleanup with Rick Lowe and Asian Arts Initiative

As part of Asian Arts Initiative’s residency with Rick Lowe and the Pearl Street Project, AAI is hosting a series of community-sourced weekly mini-events along Pearl Street throughout the summer. The series is designed to activate the alley with creative ideas from the Chinatown North and Callowhill communities, and is meant to encourage neighbors and visitors to get together to share and exchange talents and interests. Mayor Michael Nutter unveiled the Community Design Collaborative’s conceptual plans for Frankford Pause, Destination Frankford’s pop up park to be built on the vacant lot next to the Margaret-Orthodox Station, at the corner of Frankford Avenue and Paul Street. Read Full Story

PHS Pop Up Garden Grand Opening Party!

The 2014 PHS Pop Up Garden, located on a lot owned by Philadelphia music legend Kenny Gamble, will be a gathering place through the summer and early fall. The Pop Up Garden, designed by Groundswell Design Group and the landscape architects of the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, will feature tropical cocktails, a great selection of beers, a rotating array of food trucks, and flavorful dishes served by the Jamaican Jerk Hut. Guests will enjoy an allée of zelkova trees transplanted from the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, palm trees, hammocks, glittering lights, live acoustic performances, and special programming.
